Picture-nary Felt Block

ive run out of ideas. ive completed the ABC, 123 and Aliff Ba Ta felt Projects, what's next?

i mean, yes, there are lots and lots of ideas to tryout, but most of them are for girls. and im expecting a boy. so no flower brooch, or headbands.

no.

and, sadly, no dollhouse. owh, i would love to do the dollhouse.

i was thinking of doing ABC Book or Silent Book when suddenly it hits me, why dont i do Blocks? let say, alphabets blocks like this?

after cutting 6 square, i found out that to do ABC felt blog requires lots and lots of felt in which, mine is running low. we have 26 alphabets hence, 26x6= 156 squares! wohaaaa!

being the cheapskate that i am, i changed my mind and decided to have Picture-nary felt block instead.

and i listed what kind of picture blocks i wanted to do.

  1. Vehicles Block - scooter, school bus, car, yatch, airplane, train. (finished already! yeaaa!)
  2. Fruits Block - apple, strawberry, grapes, orange, watermelon, banana (finished already! yeaaa!)
  3. Cartoon Block - Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Garfield, Thomas, Elmo, Smurf. (halfway finished as i run out of red color felt to do elmo. )
  4. Animals Block - Dolphin, turtle, bird, panda, owl, elephant. (not yet started)
owh, here's the sneak peak of the Picture-nary Felt Block

 top: Vehicle Felt Block
bottom: Fruits Felt Block

nice eh?

owh btw, the design for the fruits, vehicles, cartoons and animals are being inspired by google.
how easy to have google image at your fingertips eh?

i shall share more about the picture-nary Felt Blocks in my next entry.

Aliff Ba Ta Felt Project

ive finally completed both ABC and 123 Felt Projects when my husband said,

"why dont you do the Aliff Ba Ta alphabets? (arabic alphabets)"

owh, i didnt think of that. but then, he was right, i should have aliff ba ta as well.

the only problem is tat, i have no arabic keyboard and i sucks at khat. so i started googling around to get the better view of Aliff Ba Ta khat.

since i do sucks at khat, most of the tracing part was done by my husband (tho i admit, i did alter his khat afterwards)

the first set of cut aliff ba ta. mind the aliff, yes i know it did not look like aliff at all, this is because it is upside down. owh, scroll down and see the next picture, then you'll get what i mean.

this is how aliff should be placed so that it will look aliff. hoho. again mind the quality of the picture.

the complete set of aliff ba ta!

finished!

lets moved to another project.

123 Felt Project: How to?

since ive finished with the ABC felt project, i started to have 123 Felt Project.

since there are only 10 letters, i finished them in 1 week time! weee!

owh, mind the picture, it was taken using my handphone. hence the quality.

and no, they are the same size but again, due to the angle of the handphone, it looks like 5-9 are slightly bigger compared to 0-4.

again it is so simple like the ABC project.

here's the how to:

step 1:
print the letters. i used font: chery liney, but u could use Black Oak Std or any other font you like. the size of the font that i choose: 360. (again, its up to you. if your child is big enough and did not have the tendency of putting it in his mouth, u could opt for smaller font.)

step 2:
cut the printed alphabets and trace it onto the felt. each letter should have 2 felt (front and back).

step 3:
cut the traced felt.

step 4:
sew the front and back of the traced and cut felt and leave so opening for the fiber to be inserted.

step 5:
insert the fiber and sew the opening.
 and you are done!

~~

this letters can be made it into a keychain

or

a handphone strap

 or

hang it like this over your baby's crib (source) or at the nursery

so we have finished both ABC and 123 Projects, let move to Alif Ba Ta Felt Project!

ABC Felt Project: How To?

remember my previous entry? ABC Felt?

ok, here's how to do it.

it is so easy like ABC.

seriously!

step 1:
print the ABC alphabet. i used font: chery liney, but u could use Black Oak Std or any other font you like. the size of the font that i choose: 360. (again, its up to you. if your child is big enough and did not have the tendency of putting it in his mouth, u could opt for smaller font.)

step 2:
cut the printed alphabets and trace it onto the felt. each alphabet should have 2 felt (front and back).

step 3:
cut the traced felt.
step 4:
sew the front and back of the traced and cut felt and leave so opening for the fiber to be inserted.

step 5:
insert the fiber and sew the opening. and you are done!

here's the completed ABC!

as easy as ABC!

u can make it into a keychain - simply hook a keychain ring at the top of the alphabet

or

a handphone strap by hooking the strap, again at the top of the alphabet,

or

hang it like this over your baby's crib (source) or at the nursery

cool eh?

ABC Felt Project

ive started this project months ago and it took me more than 1month to complete it.

it started as a keychain, like this:

but then i come across this and i change my mind as i wanted to make it exactly like this:

cool eh? i showed it to my husband and he simply asked me to complete all alphabets and once it is done, he shall hang it like the pic (which until now, he did not do it. but hey, the baby is due next month, so no harm done, yet. :P)

tho ABC only have 26 alphabets, as ive mentioned earlier, it took me more than a month to complete it.

still a long way to complete all the alphabet.

finally! im done!

time to move to another project, 123!

owh, i shall share the steps on how to create your own ABC felt in my next entry. is is so easy as ABC.

My first Felt ever

ive been in love with felt ever since 2008. back then, i did not know that the material is called felt (*blush*) as i often bought the DIY at Living Cabin and the box are all written in Chinese, but they have the printed tutorial, hence the language difference is not a big deal.

so here's my first felt ever.

(i shall upload it later as i could not find the picture)
ice cream felt

then i was overload with my works and studies and planning my wedding that i simply lost interest in felt. but now, as i am expecting, and got so many MC, i started buying the DIY felt again and simply felt in love with felt. again.

here's what ive come out with during my bed rest day.

handphone strap.

mind you that the handphone strap is not attached yet.

i started googling around and found so many online and free templates of felt!
omg! im so going to do all that!

but, most of the free templates are for girls, and i am expecting a boy.

so, the dollhouse, nah. out of list!

the love for felt are growing and the need to have the supplies are greater that i stalk many online shop when finally i found this

RM60 for 50 A4 size felt.

cheap or what?

ok, fine, u could go to Daiso and get 1m felt for only RM5, but a beginner like me, i need most of the color that i could find. once u have the varieties of colors, then, any project can be done.

owh, i am so in love with felt!
